I’m Floris Boumans, an 18-year-old pen-and-ink artist from the Netherlands.
I create detailed black-and-white drawings of animals, people and cities, built from thousands of lines, dots and restless marks. Up close, they can appear almost chaotic. Take a step back, and the subject comes to life.
To me, a drawing should do more than resemble its subject. I want an animal to feel alert and alive, a portrait to hold real emotion and a city to carry its own atmosphere. That moment — when marks on paper become something you can almost hear, feel or meet — is what keeps me drawing.
